Famine in Somalia
Again another sad event in Africa's story, we're witness another famine in Somalia, where children are dying because of drought in region. Where are so called African leaders or African Union to help these people? Why no one could prevent this situation! Everyone knows that civil war has been going in Somalia for more than two decades and Africa Union can't find any solution to end the war. African Union is a useless organisation because is created and supported by African dictators for their own benefits not for benefit African people. African leaders are waiting for the Western governments to help to relief the famine in Somalia that without
Western government (US and Europe) the African leaders will let all these people died. Famine is not only in
Somalia now but it is in every African Cities, go around in most African towns children are begging for food
some of them are luck if they could manage to have a meal a day. With all the money African leaders are stealing from Africa and depositing it in foreign Banks they couldn't even give half of that money to help their own people. The Banks in Europe,America and Asia are benefiting from Africa money and UN (United Nation) declared famine in Somalia. Why there is not famine in Europe, America or even in Japan that recently had tsunami disaster but Japan will recover in less than 5 years. But African are struggling to fight famine or even to organised themselves to finish with stupid civil wars that destroying the Africa Continent. One question! Why there's not African or Black organisations taking the lead to help famine in Somalia? This is Africa's problem not European, American or Asian, when there are problems in Europe or in America. They don't ask help from African and why African leaders can't stand for themselves and sort out their problems and start show some pride to be an African instance let down their people and African losing respect in front of World. In fact,European are beginning to complain that their millions of dollars given for aid Africa nations are used to found the multi-million- dollars Paris property portfolio of an African dictator through aid payments to his nation. Sassou Nguesso president of the Republic of Congo owns 16 of most luxurious houses and flats in the French Capital and Congo received this
year £ 133 million from Britain. According to anti-corruption groups transparency International and Sherpa that Sassou
Nguesso is one of a number of African politicians said to have built vast overseas property empires using public funds
including the proceeds of foreign aid from their countries treasuries.
Plaza Athenee Hotel Ali Bongo, president of Gabon, owns at least 39 properties in Paris, while Teodoro Nguema Obiang Mbasogo, president of Equatorial Guinea owns an entire six storey period building on the prestigious Avenue Foch, alone worth $30 million. According to The Daily News the $22 Million Mugabe had spent on travel could have life saving medication for six months for nearly 600.000 HIV patients Is there some wrong with morally right in African or Black leaders when your fellow Africans are dying with famine specially children and they're waiting for Western Countries to come to help your own people in contrary they(African leaders) have all these big Mansions around World and billions dollars in foreign Banks. Something must wrong with these African leaders or they are purely selfish or greedy! |

I don't have power to stop civil war in Somalia or the money to stop famine. The Somali community in London trying to collect the money to help our people. Because all these money from charities only 10% will reach the population in somalia. That why we're doing ourself to help our people back home. Thanks To My Continent social media to highlight our struggle. people are dying and African Union leaders only now calling for summit. Our leaders are fool. I can't wait for sub saharan African to rise against of our selfish governments only looks for their owns interest not of African people. I am an environmentalist-cum-agronomist. We do have best practices for drought mitigation and adaptation. All things being equal, these can be scaled up and have all the prospect of been successfully replicated in areas of the Horn of Africa. However, the problem in Somalia in particular and in the whole horn of Africa is multi-layered and sought to be addressed holistically. The four main layers are geo politic, socio-economic, cultural and biophysical. These issues have not crystallized overnight and should address all these layers on long-term perspectives.
I will mobilize the African scientific community to contribute to restoration and rehabilitation of these degraded sites. Proactive studies will enable us to know in advance years of favourable rain patterns. Basic infrastructural developments have to be undertaken to slow down the runoff and recharge the water table. These are the prerequisite conditions for small, medium and large-scale irrigation, the green sector and conservation of the biodiversity. The technologies are available for the restoration of these degraded areas.
These technologies can only be achieve if peace prevail and the population ready to cultural change in adopting sedentary patterns in pooling livestock to be fed on intensive feeding scheme. These will require investment from both national governments, bilateral and multilateral organizations.
As previous contributors have already highlighted, this new crop of eagerly awaited leaders is not yet in the driving seat. No effort, energy resources can lift people from a protracted state of poverty and hopeless social conditions in stateless countries that lack rule of law and sound governance system.
Our current crop of leaders are unfortunately investing more in their personal welfare and warfare machines at the expense of visionary social and economic engineering. Sound investments would yield only through credible, reliable and accountable leadership. Hey Iba Kone, your explaining sound good. But As long as Africa leaders still look for thier own interests and African people still scare to act against these thieves leaders. I'm afraid that famine never will finish in Africa cities. It's with tears one sees these scandalous photos; if we're really human beings with heart & 5 senses where is the COMPASSION preached by our so called RELIGIONS? Don't expect the solution to come from the WEST or SOUTH, it's time for us to exercise the "LOVE YOUR NEIGHBOR AS YOURSELF" principle it is unbelieveable to see this type of picture,is the same that happen in one of the so called African country that made one international jounalist to commit suicide when vulchour was waiting a child to die so that it wiil feed on it.the problem we are having here is from the leaders.may God he hi famine, i got touched by your message. i felt so sick by our african leader buying luxury houses in european countries, and they don't look at home where people are dying of stavation, no jobs, no medical care, no education,they only satisfy their interest. julia, england, windhoek. These are our people, it's our responsibilty to see Somalia fed and happy. Selfishness, greed and foolishness are the quallities of our leaders. And those are the reasons why the president and government of kenya made a stupid decision to burn "ivory" that worth millions of dollar. It bring tears to my eyes when I see such images because this can be my child dying of starvation and our leaders simply turn a blind eye.I pray that GOD and JESUS has mercy on their souls and that he will continue to use organisations like this to show us what is truely happening in our world. Somalia was a prosperous country before USA invaded it, whenever you copy Western doctrine without understanding the interest and logic, you become fractured Somalia, Iraq, divided Sudan, poor Djibouti, fighting Congo and the misery never ends. The empire feeds on people sufferings, exploitation. how people can die like that ,the strongest country do not like to figth al shabab as where as is the only solution for somalia . Lastly Africans should stop electing greedy people to run their countries,and if they do(elect bad leaders)they should be vocal and immediately remove the bad leaders before they start squandering their countries wealth i want o here to help them poor children we need to help them insteed of doing nothing really hope these bad situation can get better. I blame the French government for allowing these greedy African leaders to build luxury mansions in their country.They should confiscate them sell them and send money to the famine stricken country like Somalia. |
